Looking for an alternative to spa boom

I joined spa boom a while back and have sold some gift certificates. I
would like an alternative to spa boom, some kind of software that lets
me sell them from my website with out paying a commission. Anyone have
any software that will do this or any other ideas?

chair massage

Hey can anybody offer an opinion about the different massage chairs on the market? I've used the Oakworks Portable Pro, which I like, but I'm currently considering a deal on the Stronglite Ergo-pro. Unfortunately aside from all the advertisements on the web I don't know anything about it. Anybody had any experience with them??

Just to introduce myself...

I'm Andrea and I'm new to tribe. I'm not a massage therapist yet, I'll start my training in January. It's a big change from what I do now but I've been thinking about it for years and have decided that now's the time. I'm planning on volunteering my free time after I graduate at a Hospice. My dad spent the last couple weeks of his life at a Hospice here in Kansas and I was so very impressed with how they treated him.
I have a question for you experts. I can get my certificate or I can finish up an associate's degree. Is there a difference in job opportunities that will be available to me? I mean, do most places care whether I've taken college english and math and other non-MT-related classes?

liability insurance

I have a question about liability insurance.

In Pennsylvania, it is not a requirement to have a liscense to practice massage. Most places do require that you take the NCBTMB. I have my national liscense, and am considering applying at a place in Pennsylvania. However, they require liability insurance, which is probably a good thing. Anyway, I'm wondering how necessary it really is. Especially, if you're just doing massage therapy in a salon-no deep tissue work, just your basic, light pressure swedish massage. It's expensive to get insurance when you don't have a job or are just starting out, and aren't making enough money yet.

So, is liability insurance really necessary if you're working at a salon doing light pressure swedish massage? Also, if you're not interested in doing massage for the rest of your life(not interested in opening your own practice), that is something else to consider. Would it be worth it to get liability insurance, if next year you decide to do something else with your life?

Also, what about intake forms, when you're doing massage at a salon? My thought is that,it doesn't cost anything to print out the forms, and have the client come an extra 10 minutes early to fill out the form.

Back to the liability issue-I know there are some general things to watch out for:bruises, open wounds, the flu(being sick in general), broken bones, medications,etc. For the most part, each of those things you can avoid by telling the client they need to reschedule, or you can work around it, or ask the client what kind of medication their on, and make your decision based on what they tell you.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

need advice, please!

I'm thinking of taking a 2-day Thai massage workshop for $250, books inlcuded. I don't know much about the technique, for I'm used to receiving swedish, chi-gong & shiatsu. Can anyone tell me if they recommend this technique?
